Image Transfer
By: Carla Owen
There are many different image transfer techniques that you can use.
This image was created by capturing various magazine images on clear packing tape and
applying it to one of my pen & ink drawings.
Newspaper as Ground
By: Carla Owen
Something as common a a sheet of newspaper can make an excellent starting point for an expressive
drawing or painting. This simple piece combines charcoal, tempera paint, markers and masking tape.
Liquid Watercolor on Muslin
By: Carla Owen
If you have never painted on muslin you have got to try it. Muslin is a cheap, cotton fabric that you
can buy anywhere fabric is sold. Muslin gives you a little more control when working with liquid watercolors.
Tempera paint also works well on muslin.
Paper Bowl w/ Stand
By: Carla Owen
Are you on a tight budget? This sculpture was made entirely out of stuff I found in a school dumpster.
I constructed the paper bowl first out of a cardboard box.
I then made a stand for the bowl that would compliment the bowl's style.
Altered Surface w/ Mixed Media
By: Carla Owen
It is amazing what a little paint and newspaper scraps can do when they come together on a piece of
cardboard. I also did a small image transfer using clear packing tape and a laser printer image of my eyes.

Image Transfer on Acrylic Under-Painting
By: Carla Owen
I started with an acrylic under-painting on canvas and then transfered
2 images. I finished it off with some rubber stamp patterns.
It has a nice "Modern Country" feel to it.
Mixed Media Woman
By: Carla Owen
This picture started with an Image transfer that didn't go so well.
I was using clear packing tape to pick up a magazine image of a woman, but
when I went to rub the paper off of the tape, a large portion of image rubbed off too.
Rather than trash the bad image, I did a watercolor under-painting to add some
substance to the rough image transfer.....this was the final result.
